Singaporean is a funny group of people, you can see long queues at the beginning and ending of the replacement exercise, in between, no one bother to change their ez-link card.
SINGAPORE: The Land Transport Authority (LTA) on Wednesday announced an extension for the replacement of EZ-link cards.
The one-for-one free replacement of the EZ-link cards will continue for another week until October 7.
LTA said it decided on the extension because of the long queues which snaked from TransitLink ticket offices in the last few days by commuters trying to beat the original deadline, which was on Wednesday.
Despite the extension, the old cards cannot be used on buses and trains with effect from Thursday.
The replacement exercise started in January and the LTA said that as of last Sunday, 4.4 million cards had been changed.
It has estimated that commuters are still holding on to about 3.6 million old EZ-link cards.
